Katekyo Hitman Reborn: About

[Scene 1: Lambo and Addie's Arrival]

When she had answered the doorbell and seen a baby in a suit on her doorstep, Nana Sawada's first thought had been, "This definitely has something to do with my evasive husband." Some time had passed since then. She'd been attacked by a girl her son had brought over, hell her son had brought a girl over, and a million other things had happened. Two other boys from school had shown up, and she was pretty sure she heard an explosion or two from Tsuna's room here and there. She was doing just fine. She was handling it. After yet another explosion, she'd heard the doorbell ring and gone to answer it yet again, and yet again found herself looking down to find the ringer.

At first she wasn't quite sure what she was looking at. There was... a boy with wild, curly black hair staring up at her. He looked somewhat worse for wear and was definitely on the verge of tears, a little snot beginning to drip from one nose. He also happened to be wearing a cow costume. Worse, though, was the mass of black and white lace at her feet. The thing looked up, and it was then she realized it was a girl in maid clothing, doing a dogeza on her front step. The girl was nice enough to look at, but the expression in her dark green eyes was empty. "It is very nice to meet you, Nana Sawada-sama." She intoned, dully. "I apologize for the inconvenience my young master Lambo has caused you. We will be in your care from now on."

A month ago, she would've jumped out of her skin. Now, Nana smiled as if absolutely nothing was wrong and she got maids bowing to her every day. She turned her head and called up the stairs. "Tsuna! One of Reborn-kun's friends is here! Take him upstairs, okay?!" She looked back down on the girl, who she now saw could not be that much older than Tsuna himself. "Would you like to come inside and eat something while the children play?"

"I will wait here for Tsunayoshi-sama." The girl responded back, politely, one hand free to keep hold of the little boy she had referred to as Lambo.

Nana just nodded and walked back towards the kitchen, leaving the door open to become Tsuna's problem. She reached for a kitchen knife and went back to chopping lettuce, with perhaps a little more vigor than was strictly necessary. When or if Iemitsu ever came back, she was going to have to give him an earful.

[Scene 2: Before the Ring Battles] (Assumes the events of Hidden Bullet: X-Fiamma are canon and have just happened)

Ottavio, the fool. Squalo ground his teeth together. He had failed his leader in allowing the second-in-command to get away with his treachery for so long. For eight years, they had been left wondering how Nono had anticipated their attack in time to draw him and Xanxus to the basement unsupported. After Xanxus had been frozen, the Varia had been led by Ottavio and otherwise had been left alone. Squalo had suspected a traitor in their midst because Nono had seemed a bit too well-prepared, but it was even more suspicious that they were left as they were. He had searched for proof of a rat ever since, but his snooping had failed to bear any fruit.

When Xanxus had first been brought back to them, it had been Squalo who had been first notified by the Ninth, possibly because he had been there during the freezing, and was the only one who knew the truth. The old man had not explained how or why Xanxus had been freed, but he had said this: "I am sure he will not want to see me right away. When he asks after me, tell him I am prepared to meet him." He hadn't actually expected it to happen as the old man said.

Standing with the other main four of Xanxus' trusted vassals, watching the destruction of the traitors, he was the first to answer his leader's question. "Vongola Nono said he'd meet you if you wanted to, boss, but there are rumors saying he's chosen a successor. Someone in Japan." His voice was just a little louder than most people probably would have wanted him to speak, but at least it was on the normal side - the voice he used when he was being serious instead of angry. There really wasn't anything in between those two extremes.

"Voi." He added. "What are you planning to do with this?" He kicked the wrecked machine Ottavio had used to try and kill Xanxus. "You said he called it a Mosca, or something? I've never seen anything like it before." After Mammon had destroyed it from the back, a person had come tumbling out of it, and Squalo could only figure the person had been used to power it. It was an interesting machine, and it would be a waste to simply dispose of it.

[Scene 3: Starting Kyouko in Kokuyo]

Leaning against the wall outside of her brother's hospital room, Kyoko curled her fingers into a hard fist, pressing it against the wall behind her. She had gone to the bathroom for a short while, having rushed over as soon as school had ended, and as she'd been walking back, she'd seen Tsuna rush into her brother's room. She had ducked out of sight until he'd gone in, and pushed the door a crack open and listened.

The tenth, they said. That was what Gokudera called Tsuna. She didn't know why someone from Kokuyo would be looking for a no-good loser like Sawada Tsunayoshi, but her brother had gotten so badly hurt he'd been sent to the hospital because of something surrounding that boy. She'd tolerated it up till now, because her brother had seemed more lively bumping into Tsuna and getting into a little trouble with him, seeing that fiery spirit he sometimes seemed to possess, but this was unacceptable. Most of the school crowded the halls of the hospital, and her brother wasn't the only student outside of the Disciplinary Committee who'd been dragged into it. Tsuna knew something about what was going on, and she was going to find out what it was.

She heard the baby Reborn's voice, though she hadn't seen him enter the room. It was easy enough to believe that the baby had ridden Tsuna's shoulder in. "What's this pocket watch? It's stopped at 5 o'clock." Her brother didn't carry something like a pocket watch, and judging by that weird baby's voice, that pocket watch was related.

She snorted. Fell down the stairs. Like anyone would believe that. She pulled open the door to her brother's room, walking in as if she'd just gotten there. "Oh! Tsuna-kun, Reborn-kun, you came to visit my brother! He's so silly, falling down the stairs and getting a sprain like that." She shook her head, finding an angry tear coming to her eyes, and wiping it away quickly. "I'm just glad you're not hurt." She told her brother. That would have to do for now, but she was keeping an eye on those two until she got some answers.

[Bonus Scene 1: Around Twenty Years Ago...]

Iemitsu stomped angrily down the halls, trying not to make eye contact with anyone. Starting high school was hard enough without having people pick fights with you because they thought you'd looked at them funny. His blond hair had been getting him into fights since he was in elementary school. It wasn't his fault he always won the fights, either. Even before his father had gotten him to learn karate, he'd always won whatever fights people threw at him. Hyper intuition, his mother called it. Hyper intuition his ass. People were just slow, and he had a right to defend himself. The grumpy high school student kicked the wall just as he reached his homeroom classroom, and reached for the door….

The door was torn off its hinges and flung into the opposite wall as a girl came hurtling out of the classroom. If Iemitsu had been a second too late in pulling his hand back, the door could've taken it off. "What the hell?!" He swore, staring at the girl passed out on the floor in front of him.

"Move." A different girl's harsh voice said from the direction of the classroom. He turned his head sharply around to look, only to find a regular-looking girl with long brown hair. He thought her soft brown eyes would have looked nice, if they didn't look so angry and disgusted. "I said move, blondey." She said again, and he realized he'd been staring at her.

He didn't want any trouble. He was going to keep his head down now that he'd gotten into high school. Who cared that he was the only son of the only daughter of the eldest son of some guy whose grandfather's grandfather's grandfather had had ties to the mafia or whatever? He was going to be a regular salaryman with a nice wife and kids, and all of that mafia business was going to be forgotten. The best course of action was to step back and let this small, yet scary girl murder whoever had offended her. But when he looked in her angry brown eyes, he couldn't get himself to budge. She looked... tired. And sad. And he thought it was a bit of a shame for such a nice face to look like it hadn't smiled in so long.

"Oi. I believe I told you to get out of the way, punk." She snapped, before swinging her fist at him. His body moved before he had time to think about it, dodging the punch just in time.

"Woah!" He yelled, putting up his arms to expect another punch, but none came. The girl had taken the opportunity to brush right past him to grab the other girl by the lapel and shake her. "What's going on?" He finally thought to ask. He turned to look at those of his classmates who had already gathered there. None of them were exactly fond of him, but he could hear a few gossiping loudly enough to answer his question anyways.

"No way. Now we have a yakuza-" mafia... he corrected in his head in irritation, "and a serious delinquent." "I want to transfer out of this class." "She said her name was Nana? It's such a cute name for such an awful person. I heard she got kicked out of her last school for beating someone half to death." "My father told me she transferred in to live with her uncle because her parents both died in an accident, though. We should be nice to her." "Nice? To that delinquent? I bet she's the one who got them killed." "Ayase! Be careful! What if she hears you!" The girl glared back at the classroom with watery eyes, and Iemitsu could tell she'd heard every word, but she made no move to attack. Everyone hushed when she was looking at them, but went right back to whispering about when she turned away again, dragging the other girl off to goodness knew where.

Without thinking about it, he chased after her. "Wait!" He called. "Where are you going?"

She stopped and turned on her heels, gripping the other girl's collar with one of her hands. "Where? To the infirmary, of course. I've gotta drop this bitch off. Seriously, if one kick was all it took, she shouldn't have picked a fight with me." The girl named Nana clicked her tongue loudly.

"What did she do?" Iemitsu asked.

She blinked at him in surprise, clearly not expecting that question, and it took a bit for her to answer. "M-my mom." She said, warily. "She said the look in my eyes was arrogant, and it was probably because my mom didn't raise me right." He saw her fist with the fabric of the girl's collar clench tighter. "Anyways, what do you want?" She snapped, guard back up.

For a moment, he didn't answer. Then the blonde made a decision. He took two long strides forward, and she dropped the other girl, putting her fists up in preparation for a fight. Instead of giving her one, though, he grabbed one of her hands in his and knelt down on one knee. "Nana-san, was it? Please allow me to be your prince." He said seriously, no hint of a joke in his face.

Nana's eyes opened wide, a blush spread across her face.... And then she screamed and kicked him hard enough to knock him down the hallway. Watching her run in the opposite direction from where he fell, Iemitsu found a laugh bubbling its way up his throat. What a very interesting person. A very interesting person indeed.
