General Personality

Andy is pretty good-natured and outgoing, and gets along with basically everybody. He enjoys sports, cares deeply for his friends, and never seems to have any problems spitting out the right words. He enjoys friendly banter and light flirting with his girl friends, but everyone knows he's single-mindedly devoted to a certain blue-eyed spitfire.

History

The Burns moved to Black Oak Falls when Andrew was five, and really not much is known about the family except that they came from Scotland. While Andy and his father are known for being friendly and accepting, most people would be hard-pressed to recall any actual important information about them, beyond the fact that they both love fish and squid and Andy's mother is known for being an extremely paranoid recluse. The family survives on Andy's father's job as a swim instructor, and Andy helps supplement their income offering to clean pools and walk dogs when he has time.

Long story short, Andy and his parents are.. well, selkies, and his mom was once caught changing forms by a fisherman up in Scotland. The fisherman went nuts trying to prove selkies existed and looking for the skin, and at one point got dangerously close to succeeding in stealing hers. Resolving to live out their days pretending to be regular humans, since staying in their seal forms was getting increasingly dangerous, they moved to this small, land-locked town in the hopes of never running that risk again. It's hard for Andy, as he gets older, to resist the memories of his childhood in the sea, but at least their skins are safe and sound, and his mother isn't the slave of some obsessive fisherman.
