Biography

Home Chie remembers her home. She came from a family mired deep in poverty, just her and her two older sisters, a large family by modern standards. She remembers it in vivid detail, colored by the depth of her hatred. Her home life was characterized by hunger, deprivation, and at times domestic abuse. Her father would beat her mother, and her mother would take it out verbally on the three of them children. With both parents long unemployed and sisters too selfish to care what happened to her, Chie, then called Mei Xiu, learned quickly that no one was ever going to save her, and anything she wanted, she'd have to take with her own ruthless cunning. By the time she was sold to the House of the Fallen Star, she was an angry, shrewd kid who did not understand the concept of "happiness," and did not have a single soul she cared about. She was illiterate and had never had a shower in her life. Being sold could easily be described as the best thing that had ever happened to her.

Poise Among the Cogs, Chie was one of the older ones. She was already seven, but it took her less than two years to catch the eye of the Head himself and get graduated to Bud. In that time, she obsessively taught herself to read and channeled every bit of her anger into an overwhelming charisma she used to dominate the other children. She continued this trend in her Bud phase. Although it took her six years to graduate from her Bud stage because none of the Fallen wanted to deal with her, she used that time much to her own advantage. While she had some difficulty with her poli-sci and rhetoric classes at first, she motivated herself to self-study, spending much of her time in the library reading and practicing her penmanship, which eventually allowed her to excel above and beyond the requirements of her classes. Her Angel phase lasted three years, which she spent poaching her mentor's clients and learning every trick of the trade. When she finally became a Fallen, it was as though she'd been meant for it all along. She intimidated the other Fallen and attracted the gaze of other clients with a sort of unconcerned grace. At the age of 23, she was confirmed as one of the best of all the Fallen in the House, and had very nearly paid off all of her debt already. It was then that the Head of Establishment decided she was ready to begin training.

Rule If there was anything Chie took to more than being a Fallen, it was being the Head. She trained under him long after she'd fully paid off her debt, and was practically running Lucifer House all by herself by the time she turned 32. The Head officially handed rule off to her on her 36th birthday, when he retired to a cushy little mansion of his own. No one had any doubt Chie deserved the position. She's been taking care of the establishment and all its employees and residents flawlessly since then.

Personality

Mysterious and Devious Chie is a rather difficult individual to read. No matter how she's feeling, she keeps her face precisely the same. Many people find her hard to deal with, because her reactions are so difficult to gauge. She also is an expert at keeping secrets and manipulating what other people know. There is no one left in the House who knows what circumstances she came from and why she came into it to begin with. Those who do remember her from her pre-Head days are mostly flummoxed about why she would decide to stay, when she was pretty much free while she was still in her mid-20's. With her knowledge of politics, she probably could have escaped from the House and ended up one of its patrons instead. Despite her reliance on her staff, her independent nature bleeds into her work as well, and when crises occur she often ends up delegating people to do work without explaining to them why they're doing it, but rest assured, if she's asking for something, she has a plan in mind. And while her overarching motivation for the things she does is unclear, her plans are almost always focused protecting the stability of the House, and occasionally teaching cocky new employees or clients their place.

Smart and Business-like She is incredibly smart, always looking ahead, able to read people well, and perpetually on top of current news. She likes to concoct clever plots and is excellent at chess. She is also unemotional when it comes to dealing with clients and the like. The fun she has with well-laid traps has nothing to do with her no-nonsense business attitude when it comes to clients and employees. She has a good eye for a profitable prospect, but is also careful enough a judge of character to turn away people who could become problems later. She makes decisions based on her observations and carefully thought out plans. Emotions are not a factor. She can like or dislike someone, but at the end of the day, as the old saying goes, "it's nothing personal; it's just business."

Unforgiving Perhaps because of the way she grew up, Chie does not forgive, she does not forget, and she does not give second chances. If you mess up badly, you have to fight to prove you're worth keeping, or you'll be gone. If you betray her, she will do everything in her rather considerable influence to make your life utterly miserable, and revenge is never completed until you've hit rock bottom with absolutely nowhere left to go. She's kept old grudges for years without the recipients knowing, biding her time carefully until she was ready to carry out her revenge fully. Every insult is locked deep inside her brain, where her heart catalogs the list of her enemies.

Protective Surprisingly enough, this woman is also incredibly protective of her entire establishment. Individuals do not matter nearly as much as the House in and of itself, but oftentimes, in the act of protecting her little kingdom, she will do anything to protect the individuals it possesses, especially its permanent residents - the escorts and escorts in training. If she has to get blood on her hands to do it, she'll do it without a second thought. If she has to sacrifice her pride and humiliate herself to do it, she'll do it (though she'll be sure to get back at the person responsible for it in the end). She will do anything she sees as necessary in order to protect Lucifer House, no matter the consequence to herself personally.

Controlling Chie is... a bit of a control freak. Even leaving things to her secretaries can be a struggle for her, which is why she screens every employee personally, and insists on knowing the details of everything that's going on in the House. The way she sees it, if anything in the system breaks, or anyone betrays her, she should be able to purge everyone and rebuild the entire system with just the information in her brain. She is almost paranoid, in a way, about the things that go on in the House. It may be that she is so protective of the House because she feels in control there, but it could also be the other way around. Before each Wing Ceremony, she even makes sure to check on every one of the new Fallen. She patrols the grounds often, so most everyone in the facility knows who she is.

Other

Chie doesn't have much in the way of hobbies, but she smokes to relieve tension.

Although it's been a while since she's been a Fallen, she is still a great entertainer, her main instrument being the piano and her dance style being a traditional Asian drum dance.

She keeps a little black rabbit named Soot as her pet.

She can speak several languages fluently, which she also learned through obsessive study.

Appearance

General Appearance Chie is a woman with rather angular features - sharp nose, thin lips, slanted eyes - but her face is pretty small and round. Aside from her ample breasts, she's got long, skinny, almost awkward limbs that she somehow still manages to confer elegance onto, and very pale skin. Her fingers are also long and skinny and taper in a graceful way. She has long, coarse black hair she takes exceedingly good care of, and brown eyes. She is usually smiling, which works pretty much as her mask, the perfect poker face.

Clothing Style While she'd quite willingly wear anything, she's most comfortable in a make-shift kimono dress, because it's very comfortable, but still looks beautiful. More importantly, it embodies to the clients the odd, slightly anachronistic nature of the establishment in and of itself, which she considers very important. She usually wears sandals or goes barefoot, which only works because she rarely steps out of the House.

Accessories Besides her assortment of fine jewelry, and her exquisite, hand-crafted pipe, the only "accessory" Chie really has is a bunch of tattoos sprawling across her back, as if she were yakuza. She got it on the day of her "coronation."

Voice Her voice has a throaty, scratchy quality, and is rather low. It's rather full and she doesn't have to raise her voice much to make herself heard. She has a refined, British accent most of the time, though she can alter it slightly if she feels she needs to.
