Divine Heritage: Grandfathers are Ares and Apollo

Age: 4 - 16

Biography: As a little boy, Ren never caused anyone much trouble, that was his sister's arena of specialty. If he could have sacrificed himself instead of Hina, he would have, but he knew, as she did, that someone needed to be left for their mother, and he was better suited to it, and it wasn't as though he could have led her soul back to her body anyways. Instead, he has taken the powers and the burden his sister's loss left him and his mom with the calm stoicism he has always taken everything, and kept his grudges close to his heart.

In the 12 years since then, Ren has mostly kept his head down, but he's also learned everything he could from their unofficial second guardian and teacher, Takeo. The man is a snake (or rather, a spider), but he's one of the cleverest, most devious men Ren believes he ever could have met. He also encouraged, and knew how to draw out Ren's powers in ways Ren knew his mother wouldn't approve of, but he did it anyways, because he was never going to be helpless again. He was never going to let what happened to his sister happen to his family again, no matter what it took, and no matter what it meant he had to do. That's why he and Takeo understand each other. They need each other, and they both know it. Nor has he given up hope, that even if it takes killing that liar, Cora, he'd get his sister back someday, and make his family complete.

Demigod Abilities: Enhanced physical abilities - Despite his heritage as a descendant of Ares, Ren's better-than-average physical abilities are actually quite average for a demigod, and do not seem particularly extra driven towards fighting.

Light Manipulation - Ren has always seemed to bear more of the gifts of Apollo than Ares, and this is his primary one. He has extensive abilities to create extremely convincing visual illusions. His eyes turn green when he uses this ability.

Curses of War - Initially a skill likely his sister inherited, Ren has the ability to curse the way his mother does, but possibly with more autonomy.

Prophecy - Ren has only displayed this ability once, as a child, involuntarily, but he appears to be able to act as a vessel for prophecies of Apollo. His eyes do turn green when he uses this ability as well.

Personality: Rengyou has never been an explicitly aggressive child. He's always been obedient, quiet, and courteous to other, listening to his mother's directives even when that meant letting kids weaker than him beat him up or pick on him. He took everything stoically, with a calm better suited to an adult, but that didn't mean any part of his character has ever been passive. When allowed to, he has always been shrewd, patient, and a quick learner. He is versatile, and knows how to use his powers in creative ways. In some ways, he has always been far more dangerous than his sister, precisely because he knows how to shut off his heart, and treat others as nothing more than obstacles or allies.

Rengyou means Forsythia, which in flower language means anticipation, which his mother Idris has always interpreted as hope.
