Name: Beatrice "Betty" Leach

Gender: Female

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

Occupation: Thief

Age: 26

DOB: Unknown

Appearance: Betty is average-looking and almost forgettable face-wise. She has straight, golden blond hair with dark roots, and small, dark brown eyes. Standing at 5'2" she is short and naturally on the petite side, but is also quite muscular and strong, most noticeable in her athletic pursuits. She has a smattering of freckles across her face.

Personality: Betty largely keeps to herself. While connections are important to her line of work, what's more important is that the people she works with knows that she can be trusted both to do the work she's promised to, and to screw over anyone who crosses her. She can appear harmless and even friendly at the outset, but a sharp tongue and ruthless, sometimes even reckless behavior keep most people from bothering her.

Bio: Betty has no family members she knows of, having grown up an orphan with unknown parents who bounced from one uncaring, unkind, or downright abusive foster home to another. She did, however, have an aptitude for all things athletic, and when given the chance to learn figure skating and gymnastics, at the ages of 8 and 11 respectively, she began picking them up quite quickly, for the little time she had access to them, anyways. At the age of 14, her only friend at school killed herself, and one of her foster parents hit her for taking food from the fridge without asking one time too many, so she decided she was done. Leaving home, the first thing she did was start a job as a waitress, but when she was let go for stealing from the cash registry, which she hadn't actually done, she started to pick pockets. She got a boyfriend who turned out to be a drug dealer, and he introduced her to the wonderful world of more serious crime. The only reason she didn't get hooked on drugs herself was because in the three months they dated, she got very busy learning how to properly case a joint and fence pieces by his uncle, who let her pay for her lessons by molesting her.

Her life went on in a string like that, one bad boyfriend after another. Every time she tried to go legit and get an actual job, she'd get quickly fired for everything from making a simple mistake to being misled by her coworkers or refusing to let herself be groped by the manager. So, she went with the flow and became and better and better thief, moving from place to place as it suited her, getting caught by the police time and time again through a series of misfortunes, only to escape before ever actually hitting a jail. She tried to adopt various pets, which bar none met with tragic fates or ran away, and whenever she started building up a little nest egg, her house would burn down, or a partner would backstab her, or the cyber police would "accidentally" stumble on it and freeze it. The only thing she really could control in her life was how good a thief and jailbreaker she was, and she started working on commission for difficult-to-steal items. Her one rule now was that she always always worked alone.

And then a year ago, she bumped into him in a coffee shop and it all came rushing back. She'd lived more than a few lives, and had never made it to her 30th birthday. In each life, they'd both looked different, even been different genders, but they'd always recognized each other on sight and remembered their gloomy history. In their first life, they'd been best friends, so when a buddy of theirs claimed a witch was making him ill, they went on the hunt for her together. They chased her to a grubby little maze of a property, and split up to go looking for her. Betty (back then Giuseppe) had found her first. The witch had begged and pleaded her innocence, then gone to threatening, declaring that she'd curse both of them, one to live a life of unending misery, the other to lose a loved one. Giuseppe figured that killing her before she could get the curse out would solve everything, and that was the start of both of their misfortunes.

Detective Ashley Herriot (of course he'd have a pretentious prick name in this life), as Beatrice later came to recognize him as, had been furious, and it had torn apart their friendship, culminating in them killing each other in a duel after the death of the detective's ladylove at the time. And yet it hadn't ended there. Each life, Betty had been born to misery and misfortune, and in each life, she'd met him and circumstances had led to them killing one another. At first simply through bad blood and poor chance, and then the pressing certainty that one of them succeeding in killing the other without being killed at the same time would end the cycle for good drove them to go after one another. But neither of them ever succeeded, and here they were, both stuck in an endless, miserable loop.

So Betty decided to get drunk off her ass, not at all expecting to miss her period the following month, and the month after that, much less what the at-home pregnancy test she flippantly took would say.
