Name: Yingwei

Role: Illegitimate Son of the King

Age: 18

Description: Tall, and elegant, with black hair and black eyes, and generally finer features. Has very much the air of a proper scholar, but is quite muscular and strong.

Personality: Appears quiet and gentle to most, being kind and a great lover of stories, but is stubborn and very concerned with a sense of justice and protecting the weak and innocent. Is generally careful and thoughtful, but can sometimes act impulsively when angry.

Bio: Born to the king and a courtesan, was raised in the courtesan house, unbeknownst to his father. Was taught basic literature and art by his mother, and martial arts by a palace guard who frequented the brothel and took a shine to him. Mother died of an illness when he was 13, leaving behind a letter revealing his father as the king. While he saw no sense in trying to gain the recognition of a father who most likely would not care, the palace guard he'd befriended reported the news to the crown prince, who came to meet Yingwei, and the two struck up a close relationship, the crown prince taking pains to teach him more princely studies. The crown prince was sent off to war for a year, and came back a war hero, while Yingwei became known as a clever and kind man in his local area. A few months ago, however, the crown prince was poisoned to death. The perpetrators were ostensibly caught and executed, but common knowledge, and the whisper of the crown prince's now-disgraced physician was that the king had murdered him because he was getting too popular.

Name: Wang Xuejing

Role: Only Child of the Prime Minister Age: 16 Description: On the shorter side, with extremely dark brown hair and eyes, that give them the barest reddish hint. Smaller, rounder features that make her look young. Appears petite at first glance, but is actually quite lean.

Personality: Cheerful and mischievous, with a rebellious attitude and a strong curiosity about many things in general. She's always looking for fun things to spruce up an otherwise boring life. Is aggressive and bold by nature, and takes satisfaction in knocking bullies down a peg.

Bio: As the only child of an otherwise oddly barren prime minister, was simultaneously spoiled and given high expectations. Apparently the spoiled part was much stronger than any of the expectations placed on her, because she grew up doing what she pleased, regardless of what her mother said, learning swordsmanship and frequently visiting the markets and the courtesan house for fun. With her friendly personality, she made friends with a number of people out and about, including Yingwei, and they grew up as childhood friends, though she was always more of a hell-raiser than he was.
